THE JOURNEY:
A symphony by Gerald 'MAC' Mackenzie :
certain agreements to be reached before proceeding to the final stage .
Truth knows the composer for the riches of the heavens are transported to earth through the communing of an individual known to us. Honour to Mac Mckenzie.
THE BENEDICTION
Before a journey of this significance can be undertaken, there will be a ceremony of obeisance in one form or another, after which the Benediction, or 'sending off' as it were, will be performed. It is here we place our scouting, marshalling vanguard, etc, in the best positions to affect our spiritual exodus to our promised lands. The other part of this same departure is on the ocean with sea-worthy vessels of every kind.
NATURE FRONTIER
After some time we pass our first 'new' boundary. The seamlessness of the topography is displayed in the musical geography of this section. The weather patterns also present themselves, and are certainly more vivid because of its perceived difference. Since the journey is in its infancy, the land-locked van arrives almost at the same time as its natural contingent. We then switch our attention to a boat named 'Fabulo'.
FABULO
The waves of the oceans are mimicked by the cello's. Note the rhythm of the walk and other ambulatory components.
DANCE OF THE WALK
This is a driving piece with a song containing much repetition. The basses and horns compliment the percussive march so a trance like state is achieved in order to cover long distances; this is the shoulder to heel, head-down places in the symphony. It is early evening, respite is needed and we announce the place to stop.
ROSA
At our first stop we build fires for eating purposes, warmth and comfort and the sense of community is revived after our first trials. Song erupts sporadically all around and here e listen to folk song that was born in Cape Town.
