MESSAGE FOR THE NEW SELF PUBLISHING INDUSTRY thank you for your support : may all strands and strings of likeness come together and create a strong rope for the great wave of independent writing to surf upon and bring refreshment to the reading world, reading at home, reading at school, reading on the bus, reading on the weekends, reading for fun and reading for measure. "Reading is the compost of the brain." |

“TOMORROWS MEDIA” A self published author holds an invisible share in ‘tomorrows media.' This is a ‘fair share...' and the only way in which there can be a meeting of the minds (the writer with the reader). The writer depends on the reader to exist as a writer. Thank you for reading this. SELF PUBLISHING = SELF EMPOWERMENT Self Publishing is the do it yourself way to bridge the gap between self expression and the sharing of their knowledge. Self publishing brings the individual, the family and the community together because that is what must sustains it. Self empowerment is the first step in other empowerment. Self publishing is a tool of equality and removes any perceived gaps in information, understanding and accessibility.

“When there are 100 Book Clubs and 200 friends of libraries doing events – then the book fair has arrived. The longevity will lie in the fact that it is attempting to create new audiences and platforms for new writers and promote self publishing.” Oupa Lehulere The Jozi book fair is presented by KHANYA COLLEGE. Khanya college is 25 years old. It was formed out of apartheid struggle,“education for liberation.” Provides an alternative education model. We offer bridging courses and community involvement. We were the first institution to do African literature and African history at university level. We have linkages with trade unions, women and youth organisations whereby the students are helping improve the capacity of the organisations. Women's centre, social justice movements and memory issues (such as the museum of migrant labour and conscience.) Our principles are based on Paulo Freire's ideas that knowledge resides in the people. Unlocking of that knowledge and making it organised for community. Interact to the lived experience of the learners and respond to the social justice experiences. The platforms we use change to reach different audiences. PROPOSAL 2012 Our proposal is to assemble a panel of self publishing midwives to assist with the demand : Your response will be appreciated : struhuru@gmail.com |
